October is Black History Month

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK. However only 20% of black men are aware that they are almost twice as likely to develop prostate cancer. Can you share this with your community during October for Black History Month?

Stockport County Community Trust have signed the Bee Seen, Get Screened pledge

Stockport County Football Club has signed up to Answer Cancer’s ‘Bee Seen, Get Screened’ pledge which will allow their 140 staff members to take time off work to attend cancer screening appointments. It will also encourage them to talk frankly and freely about cancer in the workplace.

Ellie O’Connor, Stockport County’s Head of People, commented:

“The ‘Bee Seen, Get Screened’ campaign is such a valuable initiative. Not only will it enable us to share information and raise awareness, it will also help to reduce barriers and ease the process for any employees who need to get themselves screened.”

If you would like your employer to sign the pledge just contact Jacqui for more details or ask them to sign up using the button below.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is a busy month with Breast Cancer Awareness at the top of our agenda.

We will be sharing campaign messages across all our social media platforms throughout the month. Please do like and share so that we can reach as many people as possible.

If you are an organisation or workplace wanting to put on an event for Breast Cancer Awareness Month contact our Engagement Team ASAP as they are getting booked up already.

I’ve Been Screened

Here at Answer Cancer, we are always keen to hear when people have attended their cancer screening appointments so we have decided to make some graphics that individuals and organisations can use to create photo opportunities with people who have attended. You can put these on your notice board so that people can take a selfie, take pictures of individuals or groups yourselves and use them at events and activities. Why not share the images with others across your social media platforms.

We would really love to put these photos up on our website and social media and share them with our funders so that they can see that the work we are all doing is getting people to their screening appointments. Please do also email them to info@answercancergm.org.uk so that we can share them. If you are photographing others, make sure you get their permission.

The graphics are available to download now from our website.
