Health and Wellbeing Fairs

Gazzala from the Answer Cancer Engagement Team has organised this Health and Wellbeing Fair and will be talking about cancer and cancer screening at the British Muslim Heritage Centre in Whalley Range.

The following week, on the 13th December, there will be a similar event for men.

Please do go and show your support, take advantage of the services on offer and say hi to Gazzala, at what promises to be two fabulous and informative days.

Our new photo gallery

We have so many fabulous pictures from our events and engagement activities that we wanted to create a place to showcase them. Why not visit our new photo gallery on the website and see what we have been up to lately or even download a picture for yourselves.

We would especially like to thank David McLenachan and Saphir Beaunol, our fabulous volunteer photographers, who have taken some great pictures at our events. Thanks also go to our Engagement Team for taking photos while they are out and about at events in the community.

This Van Can

GM Cancer Alliance are launching a new This Van Can initiative which will be touring Greater Manchester to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of bowel cancer. The van aims to deliver education around bowel cancer symptoms and the importance of bowel screening. Finding bowel cancer early makes it much more treatable.

Prostate health video

Prostate cancer is very much in the news at the moment with Chris Hoy’s recent diagnosis.
Our fantastic Cancer Champion, Richard has made this video about PSA testing which we are
promoting this Movember as part of our Looks Like Us campaign. View it on our YouTube channel
and share it with everyone with a prostate you know. It could save their lives.

Who’s pledged to the Bee Seen, Get Screened?

Carbon Creative signed the Bee Seen, Get Screened pledge and took up the offer of screening awareness training for their staff.

Director, Kate Hadfield commented, “Thanks so much for the presentation last week, we have had really good feedback from the team and they all said they learnt something they didn’t previously know, which was great. Got some staff who are already chasing for check ups.”

Stakeholders Collaborative November 2024

Despite the cold and snowy weather, our Stakeholder Collaborative in Oldham on the 20th November 2024 was lively and well attended.

There were some great presentations from the Greater Manchester Bowel Cancer Screening Improvement Lead, Being There and NESTAC, plenty of opportunity for networking and for recognising all the participants achievements in promoting cancer screening.

Lots of ideas were shared about how Answer Cancer can continue to develop and we will be working on these over the coming months.
